WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) — Riots broke out in over a dozen cities this past weekend, amid largely peaceful demonstrations demanding justice for George Floyd, a 48-year-old black man, who was killed in the custody of Minneapolis police.
As of Monday, governors in 23 states and Washington D.C. had deployed over 17,000 National Guard troops in response to the civil unrest. At least four people were killed in connection to protest violence.
“It’s important for people to understand that extremists on both sides of the political spectrum are exploiting this latest situation for their own causes to recruit and radicalize,” explained Daryl Johnson, a former domestic terrorism analyst at the Department of Homeland Security and founder of DT Analytics. …
