WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) — It’s been more than three weeks since the first states began to lift stay-at-home orders.
About a half-dozen states led the way in easing up coronavirus restrictions during the last week of April. The more aggressive reopenings in Georgia, Texas and South Carolina sparked controversy and condemnation.
Critics argued it was too soon to open stores and salons and that governors were “willing to sacrifice lives for the sake of the economy.” Early states were told to expect a sharp rebound of infections as models projected a rising nationwide death toll. …
