WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) — Members of Congress brawled over the limits of a free press in a Wednesday hearing on the role of traditional news media in spreading misinformation.
Democrats on the House Energy and Commerce Committee called the hearing in response to the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol and the COVID-19 pandemic, both of which, members argued, were fueled by false narratives promoted on TV news networks.
